Helper & Hand Registration Process

Introduction

Welcome, and thanks for registering as a Helper or Hand on Taskrabbit Delivery!

Helpers & Hands are independent contractors who connect with customers across several markets to meet moving and delivery needs using a vehicle or just muscle.

Your business can be used for tax reporting and vehicle insurance. If listing a business, Taskrabbit Delivery may ask for proof of ownership.

To Register as a Helper:

• You must be 18 years of age or older
• Licensed and insured to drive your pick-up truck, box truck, or cargo van
• Can safely lift over 75 pounds
• Helpers provide the vehicle(s) that will be used to perform Tasks.

To Register as a Hand:

• You must be 18 years of age or older
• Willing to assist a Helper on tasks
• Can safely lift over 75 pounds
• Hands have a mode of transportation to arrive at the Task location, but do not provide the vehicle(s) that will be used to perform Tasks.

Helper & Hand Registration Process

To kick off the registration process, visit our Taskrabbit Delivery Helpers page to enter information.

Choose to register as either a Helper or Hand.

Step 1: Initial Registration Information

Fill out the registration form with required information.

Note: You will need to review and confirm that the correct information is submitted. Taskrabbit Delivery Support cannot update your personal information after submission.

Step 2: Document Uploads

• Profile Photo & Identification (Helpers & Hands) 
  • The profile photo must include a headshot of the individual signing up. The photo will also be visible to customers and other Helpers, and must be presentable.
  • Helper applicants must submit a clear photo of an unexpired driver's license.
  • Hand applicants can submit a clear photo of state or federal unexpired identification.
  • Learner's permits are not accepted.
  • Temporary documents of any kind will not be accepted.
  • All information submitted on documents must match original signup information.

• Vehicles (Helpers only)
  • Approved vehicles manufactured in 2006 and after include pickup trucks, cargo vans, and / or box trucks.
  • Vehicles must be in good, working condition (minimal rust or damage).

• Vehicle Insurance (Helpers only)
  • A copy of a valid, unexpired insurance policy.
  • The individual applying must be listed as an insured driver on the policy.
  • If a business is listed, an ownership document must be submitted during signup. Examples include a Secretary of State screenshot, IRS EIN letter, etc.
  • Temporary documents of any kind will not be accepted.
  • All information submitted on documents must match original signup information.

Step 3: Registration Review

• Taskrabbit Delivery will review the documents you submitted.
• You will receive an email explaining next steps, including the background and (if applicable) driving history check, after this review is completed.

Step 4: Background & Driving History Check

• Background checks are completed through our partner, Checkr.
• The background check fee is $30, and we are unable to waive this fee. 
• To initiate the background check, an email will be sent to the account email asking for consent and payment. Once we have received both, the background check will begin to process.
• Background checks take an average of 7-10 business days to complete with some taking longer.
• Taskrabbit Delivery cannot accept another entity's background check.

Note: If you are applying to become a Helper, a motor vehicle record (MVR) check will also be conducted. There is no additional fee for this check.

Step 5: The Taskrabbit Delivery Terms of Service & W-9 Tax Form

• After your background check (and, if applicable, MVR) is processed, you will be asked to review and agree to the Taskrabbit Delivery Terms of Service.
• You will also be asked to submit a W-9 Tax Form. Ensure that the Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN) is correctly entered (e.g., XXX-XX-XXXX or XX-XXXXXXX including hyphens).
• Once the SSN is filled in, the requirement for the EIN will disappear and vice versa. 
• If an SSN is not entered, an EIN is required. 
• Note: All Helpers and Hands will also need to create an account with our third party payment processor, PayPal. For more information, click here. 

Step 6: Account Creation

Finally, an email will be sent to download the Helper app, and set up an account.

Congratulations on making it through the registration process, and welcome to the Taskrabbit Delivery Platform. Helpers and Hands can request, get scheduled, and complete tasks available in the Helper app.

I am currently a Hand. How can I become a Helper?

If you are currently registered as a Hand, contact support to request to register as a Helper. Please do not submit another registration form.

To change your registration to a Helper account, you will need:

• A valid, unexpired U.S. driver's license
• A vehicle that meets minimum requirements: pickup truck, cargo van, or box truck. Rentals will not be approved for use.
• Proof of insurance for the vehicle you own

How Long Does Our Registration Process Take? 

The timeline depends on how quickly documents are submitted and reviewed as well as the length of time needed to complete a background check.

• Ideally, document collection and review take 1-5 days for processing.
• An average of 7-10 days for a background check, and in some cases, may take longer.

Where Do I Upload My Photos? 

Links to upload photos will be sent by SMS and/or email at the phone number and email address used when signing up. The links will include instructions of which photos to upload.

Will I Receive a Platform Overview Before I Become a Helper or Hand?

Yes. Taskrabbit Delivery provides an overview of the platform as part of the registration process. You can also review our Helper & Hand Resources for more information at any time.

Waitlisted Markets

How Long Will It Take to be Placed Back into the Signup Process?

The timeline will vary by market. Typically, we estimate a 4-6 week waiting period before resuming the signup process. If you are waitlisted, we appreciate your patience.

How Will I be Informed About Resuming the Signup Process?

We will contact you with the information provided during signup.

What If I am a Helper or Hand Who was Previously Approved?

If you have been previously approved to be a Helper or Hand but have been off Taskrabbit Delivery's platform for over a year, you may be asked to undergo a new background check and update document submissions.
